Nurse Claire, 37, and financial advisor Maurice, 38, are from Falkirk in central Scotland.
How did you meet?
Claire: We got together 13 years ago whilst both living on the Isle of Man.
How long have you been trying to conceive?
Claire: Nearly four years.
What supplements have you used?
Claire: Pregnacare Conception/Wellman conception, Marilyn Glenville and Zita West.
What treatments have you had?
Claire: Six months of Clomid and two unsuccessful rounds of IVF.
Maurice: We have had three lots of semen analysis carried out with varying results. The semen looks fi ne with a good percentage of As and Bs which have actually appeared to increase with various supplement regimes:
March 2013: A 16% B 65%
September 2014: A 52% B 12%
February 2015: AB 76% (total)
On our last IVF, just before the transfer of two very poor embryos, the embryologist hinted to us that we were no longer ‘unexplained’. Both cycles had the same pattern – good fertilisation, day three was average, but by day five there was a huge drop in number, or very poor embryos. They suggested that we were now looking at possible DNA issues that may warrant further investigation.
We can try using Androferti for the full six months before we try IVF again next year.
What challenges have you faced during the time you have been trying to conceive?
Claire: Where do you start? Infertility rocks you to the core. Your assumed future is no more, you watch others around you start their families, have a second or third child and you are left behind.
