The clinic treats a wide range of patients, including single women, female same-sex couples seeking the ROPA method, and patients with HIV, HCV, or HBV. The upper age limit is 43 for treatment with own eggs and 50 for donor egg treatment, with a BMI requirement between 18 and under 30. Both online and in-person consultations are available.

The clinic is headed by Dr Federica Moffa, MD, PhD, Medical Director, a gynecologist and specialist in reproductive medicine with 26 years of medical experience, including more than 25 years dedicated to human reproduction. She earned her PhD in Clinical Sciences from the University of Turin, completed her specialization in Gynecology and Obstetrics with highest honors at the same university, and holds a medical degree from the University of Turin.

Over the course of her career, Dr Moffa has authored nearly 20 scientific publications and is regarded as one of Europe’s leading experts in assisted reproduction. Her research background includes collaborations with institutions such as the University of Turin in Italy, New York University in the United States, Ben-Gurion University and the Weizmann Institute in Israel, and the Carl von Linné Clinic in Sweden. She speaks English, Italian, French, and Spanish, and also sees patients as part of the clinical team.

Another senior member of the medical team is Dr Fulvia Mancini, MD, PhD, who also brings 26 years of experience. She speaks English, Italian, French, Spanish, and German.

Fertilab Barcelona has a team of 7 doctors working with international patients, supported by 10 embryologists. The senior embryologist has 15 years of experience, and the embryology team is accredited by ESHRE. International patients can receive support in English, Italian, French, German, and Portuguese.

When treated at Fertilab, you will be assigned a dedicated gynecologist who personally follows your treatment through every stage, from the initial visit to the end of the process. Patients also receive ongoing support and assistance from a nurse throughout their journey.

International Patient Support Team

Fertilab Barcelona has a dedicated patient coordination team that assists international patients at every step of their treatment journey. The coordinators speak several languages, including English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Catalan, and the clinic confirms that English is spoken fluently by staff.

Patients may receive support from team members such as Clara, Sara, Lola, Giorgia, Cristina, Miriam, Rita, Chiara, Cecilia, Paula, Nadiia, Ela, Laura, Manuela, and Françoise. IVF Costs at Fertilab Barcelona

At Fertilab Barcelona, treatment prices depend on the procedure chosen. IUI costs €940, with a three-cycle package available for €1,595. AID is priced at €1,450, while three AID cycles including donor sperm from Fertibank cost €2,690.

IVF with own eggs costs €5,290. The programme includes

• personalised medical and administrative support throughout treatment,
• egg retrieval under deep sedation,
• IVF-ICSI,
• embryo monitoring with TimeLapse EmbryoScope+®,
• embryo culture to the blastocyst stage (day 5 or 6),
• cryopreservation of any additional blastocysts for one year,
• and the first embryo transfer of the cycle.

If donor sperm is needed, IVF with donor sperm costs €5,694 in total, including €5,290 for IVF with own eggs and €404 for donor sperm. The donor sperm fee covers donor selection, as well as psychological, medical, and andrological assessment, and a frozen sperm sample.

The cost of vitrification of surplus embryos, together with the first year of storage, is included in all egg donation treatments. From the second year onward, embryo storage costs €390 per year.

Egg donation IVF is priced at €8,590, embryo donation costs €3,660, and egg freezing is available from €2,570 per cycle. The ROPA method (Reciprocal IVF) for female same-sex couples costs €5,030.

Surrogacy is not available at the clinic.

IVF Treatment Add-ons and Other Costs

At Fertilab Barcelona, some additional IVF techniques and services may involve extra costs, while others are already included in the treatment price.

A medical consultation with a doctor is free of charge.

Donor sperm costs €404, and sperm freezing is priced at €190. Embryo monitoring, such as Embryoscope, blastocyst culture, and embryo freezing with one year of storage are included in the treatment programme.

PGT-A / PGS genetic embryo testing costs €1,022 for one embryo or €2,985 for up to six embryos.

A frozen embryo transfer (FET) is priced at €1,990.

IVF Success Rates at Fertilab Barcelona

Fertilab Barcelona reports good treatment outcomes across several IVF options. In 2024, the clinic’s clinical pregnancy rates per fresh single embryo transfer for IVF with own eggs were 83.3% for patients under 35, 58.8% for those aged 35 to 40, and 25% for patients over 40. In donor egg treatment, the clinical pregnancy rate per single embryo transfer was 62.4% in both fresh and frozen cycles.

The clinic also reported a 60.8% clinical pregnancy rate for frozen embryo transfer (FET) and 44.4% for embryo donation treatment. Its multiple birth rate in 2024 was just 1%, which suggests a strong focus on single embryo transfer.

For egg donation cycles in 2025, Fertilab reported a 62.5% clinical pregnancy rate on the first embryo transfer, increasing slightly to 64% when PGT-A was used.

The clinic also states that it submits its treatment data to SEF, the Spanish Fertility Society, which may offer patients added reassurance about transparency and national reporting standards.

Fertilab Location

Fertilab Barcelona is situated in the Sarrià–Tres Torres district, a calm and well-connected part of the city with convenient access from both Barcelona’s city centre and the airport. Reaching the clinic from Barcelona–El Prat Airport usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or private transfer, depending on traffic conditions. Using public transport, the trip generally takes between 45 and 55 minutes and may involve a combination of Aerobús or train services together with metro or bus connections.

The clinic is also easy to access from other areas of Barcelona, with good nearby connections by bus, metro, and train. Patients travelling by car can reach the area easily via Avinguda Diagonal, and there are parking facilities available nearby.

Although Fertilab Barcelona does not currently provide an airport transfer service, it does offer discounted rates at selected hotels close to the clinic, which can be helpful for international patients planning their stay.
