There was joyous news from France when Nathalie Langlois gave birth to beautiful baby Charlie last month.

Weighing 4.475kg (9lb8), Charlie came into the world on February 24th following a complicated labour.

Nathalie told Fertility Road: “The last months of pregnancy went relatively well apart from some insomnia and sour stomach. The birth was complicated because I had a hemorrhage as well as an infection which made me rather weak. I stayed a little longer in the hospital, while the haemoglobin level came back up.”

Charlie is currently undergoing some tests on his ear, but despite this, Nathalie says her little bundle of joy is quite a chilled out baby.

She said: “I feel quite happy, despite his few concerns. I had to get used to the early nights, but you just adapt. I am having a great time with Charlie. At the moment, he’s pretty calm.”

Nathalie offered her heartfelt thanks to the team at UR Vistahermosa in Alicante for making her dreams come true. “I would like to thank the clinic for the opportunity it gave me. The experience with the clinic was totally perfect and allowed me to realise my dream of becoming a mother,” she said.

Congratulations Nathalie, from everyone here at Fertility Road.

Nathalie is now well into the second trimester of her pregnancy and everything is progressing well. She told Fertility Road: “Pregnancy has gone relatively well, apart from some tiredness and headaches. I’m starting to feel less tired and my tummy is getting rounder.

“I’m feeling good mentally and emotionally. Of course I have a few concerns about the birth, baby’s health and the postpartum period … but above all I’m looking forward to meeting my baby.” Although Nathalie’s pregnancy is progressing well, she knows her Spanish fertility clinic is only ever a phone call away should she need them.

Nathalie added: “UR Vistahemosa are always ready to listen, even though I haven’t really needed them lately.”

Nathalie is due to give birth in early 2024.

There was some great news for Nathalie Langlois when she discovered she was pregnant following double donation IVF in Spain.

Although Nathalie was overjoyed with the news, she admits that it has still not fully sunk in.

She told Fertility Road: “It’s hard to tell you how I felt when I found out I was pregnant. It was really hard to realise. I think that today, I still don’t realise it and then I try not to get too carried away because ‘you never know’.”

When we caught up with Nathalie, she was in her ninth week of pregnancy and apart from feeling very tired and dizzy, thankfully she was experiencing no other symptoms. She had recently undergone an ultrasound scan in her native France.

Nathalie said: “The ultrasound went well. It reassured me a bit and showed me that there’s only one baby. I have to admit that this was one of my fears. I still don’t have a due date. I’m having another ultrasound on August 4, so I think I’ll know then.”

Nathalie sent the praises of UR Vistahermosa, the Alicante-based fertility clinic that treated her as part of the 2023 Fertility Journeys Project.

She said: “My experience with UR Vistahermosa went very well. They continue to be present and if I have any questions, they always answer me very kindly and quickly.”

Last week Nathalie Langlois made the journey to UR Vistahermosa in Alicante for her first and perhaps most important visit to the clinic – the embryo transfer.

Nathalie started her IVF medication while still in France, preparing her body for what lay ahead.

She said: “I started taking the contraceptive pill on April 17th, on my first day of menstruation. On the 16th day I took the Decapeptyl injection. On the first day of my new cycle, which took place on May 12th, I started taking Provams and Lavenox.”

Nathalie underwent an ultrasound scan in her native France on May 23rd and was told she was ready for transfer. She traveled to UR Vistahermosa last week.

Nathalie said: “The trip to Spain went very well. The clinic gave me a very warm welcome and was very clear about the rest of the protocol. Before the transfer, which took place on May 31st, I was a bit tired physically. But the worst part was emotionally speaking, it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride, a mixture of fear, envy, and so on. But once the transfer took place, my emotions calmed down. I feel calmer now.”

Nathalie now has to wait 15 days before she can take the pregnancy test to discover whether the treatment has worked.

Meet Nathalie Langlois from France, who has been selected by UR Vistahermosa to participate in the 2023 Fertility Journeys Project.

At 35, Nathalie started to explore the possibility of having a child as a single woman. She underwent two intrauterine insemination (IUI) treatments at a fertility clinic in Belgium, but sadly both of these were unsuccessful. Nathalie’s plans were dealt a further blow when the arrival of Covid-19 saw fertility clinics temporarily shutting their doors to patients.

Following the disappointment of her treatment in Belgium, Nathalie went to a clinic in Portugal where she discovered that her ovarian reserve was low and she would need to use a donor egg, as well as donor sperm, to conceive.

Nathalie said: “The news shook me up a bit. But once I digested the fact that it would be difficult for me to have a child with my own oocytes, I told myself that it was not essential.”

Now 39, Nathalie took another step towards realising her dream of motherhood when she discovered she had been selected for treatment in Spain as part of the Fertility Journeys Project.

Nathalie has already had a virtual consultation with UR Vistahermosa and is looking forward to making the trip to the Alicante clinic later this year.

She said: “The first contact with UR Vistahermosa went well, they explained the protocol to me.
“I would like to go to Spain as soon as possible because I can’t wait to embark on this new adventure.”
