First of all, bear in mind that there is no such thing as “the best IVF clinic” or “the worst IVF clinic“. No IVF clinic in the world can work miracles and leave all patients happy and satisfied. The reason is simple: every patient is different. Everyone has a different medical and treatment history, as well as completely different expectations. So the clinic that is right for someone else, may not be the best choice for you.

Most European IVF clinics offering services to international patients are acclaimed and experienced medical units with high success rates. They are often the leaders in the IVF sector in their home countries. As a result, they’re not the cheapest – IVF costs are usually above the country average.

When it comes to finding the best IVF clinic in Europe, it is not always easy to distinguish which clinic or clinics are better than the others.

There are no universal rankings, or awards which will flag up which clinics are best. As part of their research, many patients seek advice and reviews on internet forums and Facebook groups. But these are personal opinions and often don’t provide a fair and balanced viewpoint of the IVF destination.

Reviews of the individual clinics are also of limited use as being highly subjective and it is difficult to access a list of top IVF clinics for a straightforward comparison.

It was a big step deciding to complete our treatment abroad, but upon meeting the Clinica Tambre representatives we knew that however our journey turned out they were the best choice for us. I thoroughly researched treatment abroad prior to this. We met Katie at the fertility show London in May 2022 and by June we had our first appointment in Madrid. Katie arranged the timings of the appointment, the hotel for the first night and transfers from the airport to the clinic or hotel. We had a face to face appointment, full bloods, Seminal analysis and genetic testing done on the same day - Obviously we had to wait for the results and we did pay extra for the genetic test. The second appointment was completed over video call with the results and to make a plan for the treatment. Clinica Tambre offered several different packages and Shannen our clinical link explained all thoroughly. Clinica Tambre are very transparent with their costings and you pay what you are shown on the package. If there are extra costings for different testing not included in the package they will let you know straight away. This is unlike some of the UK clinics that we have experienced. We paid via the payment request links as it was easier to keep track and see what we were paying in pounds via our bank accounts. Dr Marban was the consultant that we met with for every appointment and every ultrasound. If we had a problem we could contact the patients team and they would contact Dr Marban straight away and get back to us with a response. The people we mostly contacted during treatment on the patients co-ordination team were Sandra or Maria. I can only sing their praises at how wonderful they were with us, especially as I probably was the irritating patient emailing/calling all hours of the day. They didn't once make me feel like a nuisance. Everyone that was involved in our care spoke fantastic English, very compassionate and made us feel at ease at all times. Once we selected our package, we made the decision that we would live in Madrid for the duration of our treatment - we stayed at Sonder apartments. I honestly think this was the best decision as it made us stop our daily lives and fall into the treatment cycle. We also explored Madrid and experienced all the amazing things that it had to offer. We found an apartment close to the Metro and it couldn't have been easier! We started our initial ICSI treatment in July 2022, however, had to stop after the egg collection as I unexpectedly experienced OHSS. I was poorly whilst exploring Madrid and fainted, my partner called the clinic and within the hour Dr Marban had seen me, completed an ultrasound and blood test and given me medication. We then decided that the best option was to wait a month or for the ovaries to recover before the embryo transfer. We completed our frozen embryo transfer in August 22. Both my egg collection and transfer were completed by an all female team, which, although not necessary made my personal experience so much more empowering. My partner and I decided that whatever the outcome from the collection and transfer, Clinica Tambre is a clinic second to none. The doctors, nurses, embryologists, reception, admin, patients team, cleaning staff ... everyone, were absolutely amazing in their care and compassion. We are very lucky in our experience and we are now almost 23 weeks pregnant, thanks to everyone at Clinica Tambre. We don't have any other embryos left but if and when we make a choice for fertility support again they are our first and only choice. We are forever thankful for the positive experience during treatment, not only the outcome. From the first contact until now I've had a really pleasant experience. My nurse (Isabelle) was always really helpful and my Doctor (Alicia) is just the best, I wish she was my doctor here in the UK... The clinic is big enough to have enough time to offer me the personal care and time, but small enough that I only ever speak to the same few people. I understand that in some of the bigger clinics patients are put through to lots of different people and never build a relationship with their clinical team, but this was not the case at Repro. Depending on the outcome of my first own egg round with them, I will definitely consider using them for egg donor treatment if needed. Anastasia was my personal care assistant and she was excellent - always on hand to answer my questions and polite, knowledgable and reassuring. The service was second to none. Dr Castillo was exceptional also. He was meticulous in gathering a full clinical history and was available for consultations both remotely and in person; based on which he recommended a personal treatment plan. Next Generation Clinic	Russia	45	4.0	NGC in St Petersburg was successful for my attempts using a donor egg and I am now 20+ wks pregnant. I can highly recommend Dr Diana who is excellent (she's also bilingual and speaks English). NGC have English speaking staff to help English speaking patients through their journey. Russia allows more flexible donor choices than UK or Australian clinics, you can see exactly what your donor looks like and their full medical profile. For me personally it took 5 implant cycles because I'm 40+ yrs but NGC have very good statistics in all areas. It took a little extra planning with flights and visas, but an organised person can do this easily to help save money vs the price tag of expensive UK/USA/Aus clinics! Yes I can recommend NGC.

The doctors are so competent and real, the nurses are incredibly nice and skilled, the lab assistants take the time to show and explain and the office staff are always helpful and nice. Eugin	Spain	402	4.1	After unsuccessful rounds of IVF with my own eggs in Switzerland I was given Eugin's contact details. We wanted to start the process with them in 2020 but then covid got in the way. We decided to contact them, again in January 2023, for one last attempt at IVF but this time with a donor egg - now that I am 43 years old and we 'wasted' two years! From the very first contact the process was seamless. They gave step by step support and instructions were always very clear. It only required 2 in person appointments to Spain, one in March for a meeting with the medical staff, and the other on the date of the scheduled transfer. During our first medical appointment in March we were able to get all the bloodwork and Ultrasound done on the day to complete my file - i was impressed by that!..... Well almost 8 months on and I am now pregnant and couldn't be more ecstatic! Clinic Eugin really made it happen and chose the right protocol for me. The distance (I am in Switzerland) they are in Spain did not matter as they responded within 48 hours either via message or a call back. They have long opening hours and you can even reach them on Saturday which I really appreciated. I read some of the google reviews and would like to comment on some of those. Yes, I agree once or twice the 'receptionist' , depending on the language spoken, was quite abrupt, one might even say to the point of being rude. Eugin Barclelona may need to do a better selection process on staff who speak multiple languages to ensure they can be understood over the phone - but this is a minor detail. For the most part, the receptionist and all medical staff were wonderful and very efficient. They were on time at both of my appointments and this clinic really prides itself on privacy!!! This is what I appreciated the most, it really felt like a personalised service rather than an 'industrial' service where you are just a number on a long list of number of people waiting to conceive via IVF.
